Meet Ron & Marilyn
Whether you’re in the market for a small family cruiser, or a large recreational vessel, you’ll feel you’ve come home when talking with Broker Ron Gregory at the marina. Since the 1970s, Ron’s own passion for boating in the California Delta makes it a personal priority for him to connect clients to the boat that’s just right for you and your best boating pleasure.
“I want my clients to be happy, not only in their purchase of a boat, but also with me as a broker in selling their used boat. Sometimes the needs of clients even require me to work with another broker in a different area offering a certain boat that my clients would like to look at. And, I will negotiate between buyers and sellers– who may not have the same thing in mind during the process– so extra time, patience and effort might is necessary to find what works best for everyone in a boat sale.”
“He does what ever it takes to make the sale work,” says his wife, Marilyn who’s also Ron’s business partner in their own Scandia Boat Sales operation in Rio Vista. “Sometimes, a lot more than most brokers would want to do,” she says with a laugh.
It’s easy to sit back and get comfortable with both Ron and Marilyn, who love the laid-back life style in the delta, and it shows. That’s why they’re both eager to meet you, and then just sit down and get to know you like a member of their extended delta family.
And take the time, they will.
“I’ve showed boats to several couples over the course of two years before they finally found just the right one, “ recalls Ron. “I also sold their used boat, and they have since thanked me many times for my patience. Spending the necessary time and effort means that people are happy with my services, and they’ll be back if they need me again.”
Ron retired from his occupation with the railroad in 1999. At the suggestion of a friend, he found himself in boat sales with Marina Boat Sales in Lodi. After that, he worked at Britannia Yacht Sales at the Ox Bow Marina for six years before he and Marilyn opened their own business.
With so many different styles and choices available, not just at the marina, but all over the delta and then some, there’s a lot to be considered. That’s why Ron will need some time to get to know you to so he can fully understand your personal boating needs. “When I sell a boat to someone, I know I’m going to see them around the Delta again and again. That’s how it is among the boating community, so you really have to know what you’re doing, but it’s well worth it to know that people are happy with the work that I do.”
